After all the shopping and sightseeing then it is time to check out their food. A food that made Thailand well-know all over the world for its fine and tasty cuisine. But for a first time visitor you might be careful with your chilli because most of their foods is very spicy. It is only when you get an acquired taste thus you experiment with your food. The food in Thailand is simply cook to perfection with just basic garnish of spices and vegetable. Below are just some of the famous food in Bangkok and their recipe:

- Tum yum gung – this is a popular dish which is made of shrimp and mushrooms
Recipe:
200 g mushrooms
2 spring onions
16 peeled prawns
1 l chicken soup stock
3 tbs lemon juice
1 ts chili paste
3 tbs fish sauce
1/2 Kaffir-lime
Procedure: (Takes 20 minutes)
- 1.In a pot bring chicken soup stock to boil.
- 2.Cut mushrooms into half. Cut spring onions into 2 cm long pieces. Wash prawns.
- 3.Add lemon juice, chilipaste and fish sauce to the chicken soup stock and stir.
- 4.Add mushrooms, spring onions and prawns and let simmer for ten minutes.
- 5.Reduce heat and season with Kaffir-lime juice.

- Phad Tai Noodles – this is a very popular noodle dish in Thailand often serve in the streets or some famous restaurant
Recipe:
3 cloves garlic
4 spring onions
200 g (6 1/2 oz) beancurd
300 g (10 oz) soy bean sprouts
100 g (3 1/2 oz) prawns, peeled
300 g (6 1/2 oz) rice noodles
6 tb oil
2 eggs
2 tb rice vinegar
3 tb sugar
2 tb light soy sauce
2 tb fish sauce
Procedure: (Takes 40 minutes)
- 1.Dice beancurd, wash soy bean sprouts, cut spring onions into 2 cm long pieces, chop garlic.
- 2.In pot bring water to boil and simmer noodles for five minutes. Drain noodles and wash with cold water.
- 3.Heat oil in a wok or a pan. Add garlic, spring onions, prawns and beancurd and stir-fry two minutes.
- 4.Push to one side and quickly add beaten eggs. Once they begin to set, gently scramble them. Stir eggs and beancurd.
- 5.Add noodles, bean sprouts, vinegar, sugar, soy sauce and fish sauce and stir well.

- Sticky Rice with Mango – a popular dessert made of sticky rice and coconut milk paired with your choice of fruit
Recipe:
400 ml (13 fl oz) coconut milk
300 ml (10 fl oz) water
250 g (8 oz) sticky rice
3 tb sugar
salt
fruits
Procedure: (Takes 25 minutes)
- 1.In a pot bring half of the coconut milk and the water to boil. Reduce heat and add sticky rice, sugar and salt.
- 2.Cover the rice and let simmer for 20 minutes.
- 3.Pour in rest of the coconut milk and stir. Serve with fresh fruits.

- Green Chicken Curry – a spicy dish that Thai people love made of chicken, bamboo shoots and curry
Recipe: Serves 4
500 g (1 lb) chicken fillets
500 g (1 lb) canned bamboo shoots
400 ml (13 fl oz) coconut milk
1 ts green curry paste (Gang Kiau Wan)
3 tb fish sauce
3 tb sugar
Procedure: (Takes 30 minutes plus time to marinade)
- 1. Slice chicken.
- 2. Drain bamboo shoots.
- 3. In a pot bring 5 tb coconut milk to boil.
- 4. Add curry paste and stir. Cook for one minute.
- 5. Add chicken, bamboo shoots, fish sauce, sugar, rest of the coconut milk and a little bit water and simmer for ten minute
