This is another famous site in Bangkok also known as “Temple of the Emerald Buddha.” This is the most important and sacred temple in Bangkok. Visitors are expected to act with respect when inside the temples.

This is the oldest and largest temple in Bangkok. This temple became famous due to its huge gold plated reclining Buddha which is 48 meters long and 15 meters high. Its feet and its eyes are engraved with mother of pearl decoration. This is also home to Thailand Massage School and you can even have a massage for only 150 Baht for 30 minutes and 250 Baht for an hour.

This temple is located in the east end of Chaopraya River and can only be reach through ferry in the Tha Thien pier just a few miles away from Wat Po. This is a very popular landmark in Bangkok and is currently the most photograph. Wat Arun is also called the “Temple of Dawn”.

The point of interest here is the 32 meter (100 foot) standing tall Buddha. In the olden times the Buddha in Wat Indrawiham was visible to different vantage point in the city. However, after the modernization and the rise of skyscrapers the Buddha can seldom be seen. This Buddha is a popular homage for Thai people. Besides, the Buddha there is an ubosot decorated in carved pink sema stones while the inside is decorated in frosted glass.

This temple is also called the “Temple of Marble” and is beautifully designed by H.R.H. Prince Narisranuvattivongse. The temple has been marvelled by its architecture and symmetric proportions. The construction of the temple began during the reign of King Rama V and its name means the “Temple of the Fifth king”.

This shrine is connected to Erawan Hotel which has now become famous from both Thai and tourist alike. The shrine was built as a spirit house to drive evil forces away but for a time it was not effective, until they replace it with a four-headed image of Phra Phrom in Thai. After that, no uneventful accident happens so the shrine became famous for bringing good fortune. That is why people come to visit in order to ask favour. They offer flower garland, lotus, candles and incense to ask for their wish to be granted. If a miracle should happen, then donate teak of elephants or commission the dancers and orchestra.

Grand Palace is a must visit place in Bangkok, Thailand. It is where the royalty live from 18th century to mid 20th century but afterwards King Bhumibol moved the official residence to Chitralada Palace. Today some parts of the castle are open to the public except for the inner court and some part of central court. If you visit the palace you will have to pay 250 Baht including a tour of The Emerald Buddha and Vimanmek Mansion.
