In every place one can usually found a Chinatown where goods are plenty and prices cheaper. The Chinatown in Bangkok is bustling with activities of trading and selling goods. It is colourful, noisy and chaotic yet tantalizing the senses with its sights and aroma that one cannot help, but stay and take a look. Indeed, it is a good place to go shopping and find bargain prices so long as you can take the heat and cramp setting.

There are many stalls offering various merchandise and some even sell at wholesale prices. Products sold in Chinatown are wooden crafts, antiques, souvenir items (e.g. keychain, refrigerator magnet, etc.), and a huge concentration of gold shop. This place is just bustling with many gold sellers trying to lure customers to buy gold.
Take a peek at Sampeng Lane where you can find colourful textiles (Thai Silk), trendy garments, second hand parts and equipments, etc. They also offer Chinese medicine that can cure most minor ailments. Before, Sampang Lane was infamous due to a high rate of crime and gang fighting in the streets. But, nowadays it is just a busy street full of people who wish to visit the market.
Then there is also a “Thieves market” (Nakhon Kasem), the name was derived from its past history where lots of lost goods was found in the area, but now it is well monitored by the police and a TV network. This road is also good for finding antiques from China or Thailand with reasonable price.
If you follow the river up north you will find yourself reaching the Indian community with its aromatic curries and warm hospitality. You can either choose to continue your adventure there or continue to shop for bargain in Chinatown. As long as you have a good time in both place.
