Bus

Riding a bus is another way of seeing Bangkok and its neighbouring cities. However, some of the buses are uncomfortable and very crowded during rush hour. But there are also advantage if you used bus since you will need to parking space or tell the taxi where to go since most of this bus goes everywhere. The fare for buses cost around 2.50 Baht to 25 Baht depending on how far you want to travel.
Before, choosing the bus as your primary mode of transport, bring a map and extra cash just for emergency. You see most buses in Thailand are written in their language so it is so easy to misunderstand and get lost. Besides, if you get carried away with your shopping spree or adventures you might miss your bus ride since bus routes has curfew. In case this scenario happens then there is no other choice than to catch a cab.

In Thailand their bus are colour coded which I will enumerate further:

  • Cream bus – it is a new air-condition bus with spacious accommodation. The fare starts at 10 Baht for a few kilometres and increases afterwards.
  • Blue bus – it is still an air-condition bus with fare of 8 Baht for the first 8 kilometres and increases in fare for succeeding Km.
  • Purple Microbus – the fare of 25 Baht is fixed and will only stop if there is a seat available
  • Red bus – a non air-condition bus with flat rate of 3.5 Baht during the day and 5 Baht after midnight
  • White bus – still non air-condition with flat rate of 5 Baht and a bit higher after midnight
  • Small green bus – should be avoided besides belching polluted air, the drivers are reckless and the routes change constantly so if you are not a local avoid these buses.
